As you know, the Rotary Club of Sackville decided to fund the construction of a bridge joining the newly acquired Lund property to the Sackville Waterfowl Park. On Saturday, June 22nd at 1:30 pm, an event has been scheduled for the dedication of the Daniel Lund Park at the site near the end of Squire St (the entrance will be clearly marked) where Mayor John Higham and Kenneth Lund will speak. All club members are invited to attend as our club president will be presenting a cheque to the mayor at this time.
FYI, at 2:30 pm there will be a celebration of the 30th Anniversary of the Waterfowl Park at the Visitor Information Centre, 34 Mallard Dr, where there will be remarks by dignitaries, followed by a celebration barbecue, light entertainment, activities for children and an opportunity to look at the new VIC display. |

For the first meeting of the new Rotary year we have planned a special club meeting on Thursday, 27th of June from 5-7 PM at the Bill Johnson Memorial Park activity centre! This will be a Canada Day celebration for our new refugee families. We have just learned that the towns newest refugee will be arriving the day before. This a partnership with the Sackville Refugee Response Coalition (SRRC). The event is being organised jointly with SRRC - Stacey and Sue F are our reps. There will be a cover charge of $5 to cover the expense of getting pizza from Goya's. Salads, refreshments and a special Canada cake will be provided. The town has waived the rental fee for the activity centre as their contribution. The Mayor and President of MtA have been invited as our guests. This is a rain or shine event! Note: there will be no morning meeting on the 27th This will be a fun event with our refugee families and an opportunity for us to 'connect' with both them and the SRRC members. See you there! |

This is an evening meeting and members are encouraged to bring their families, guests and potential new Rotarians. Additional details will be provided closer to the date. The Painted Pony will offer a limited dinner menu to choose from, but there is no obligation to have a meal and instead you could chose an appetizer or just have a drink. Every year, Sackville hosts a Triathlon in the Silver Lake area. This is a major event and the organizers need lots of volunteers to ensure that it will be a success. Members of the Rotary Club of Sackville have volunteered in the past and we need you again. The event starts at 8 am on Saturday August 24th and lasts for a few hours (certainly done by noon). There are all sort of roles to fill from the menial to the specialized and I'm sure there will be a place for any of us. It's also an opportunity to wear one of our cool brightly-coloured Rotarians At Work vests so we can do some RCS profile-raising. FYI, there will be a pre-race meeting on Friday the 23rd at 6pm at Silver Lake where we will get our "marching orders" for Race Day. I hope that we can have a good turn-out because... the more, the merrier. --Bill |

They also now offer a new line of non-alcoholic soda. Catering will be by Rose from Pi By Crow. Rose will offer either BBQ hamburgers or a fish chowder. This is an opportunity to support two local entrepreneurs 🙂 Should the weather not cooperate we may have to cancel the event or perhaps move it into the Sackville Commons (minus the beer). |

Hi All,
Just a reminder of the Board meeting on Tuesday, October 8 at 5:30 pm at Goya's. If you could come a little early to order your meal that would be great so we can start the meeting on time. Please submit a brief report to the Board, ahead of time, including any actions so I can update the log accordingly prior to the meeting. See attached template. You can also find it on Club Runner under the Documents for the 2019/20 Board of Directors. I would also ask that you review the Action log and review any actions that may be assigned to you. Here is the link to the 2019/20 log: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1CWplq9r2vPO_7-pQdwOIsf6OcQVZcYPiOI5LMIZCJ6w/edit?usp=sharing https://portal.clubrunner.ca/1225/Documents/en-ca/83564773-1733-4136-83d3-bdce05919bba/1/ Thank you, Edna Boland Club Secretary

This will be the large distribution to the Grade 3 students at Salem School. There are 3 classes with 25 students in each class. We try and have one volunteer for 2 students so we need lots of people. A good time to introduce prospective members to the literacy programs of Rotary. This event was greatly enjoyed by the folks who came out last year. |

The membership committee is just getting started and I sent an email out to those on the membership committee a few weeks ago to make sure they were still willing to serve on this committee. It is exciting times in membership with all the new membership types to appeal to more people. This email is to open up to all the club, the opportunity to help us in building the membership of our rotary club to be able to do even more good works in our community. Our first brain storming meeting will be October 22nd at Goya's at 5:30. If you want to order food come a few minutes early. After this meeting we can set a day and time each month that will work for the majority. These will be an hour meeting only. What can't be done in the hour will be covered in the next meeting. At this first meeting we will review the different membership types, some potential prospects, and decide on the details for our first fireside chat for new members.
Even if you want to come just for this meeting to see if it is something you may be interested in then come join us.

RLI Mission: The Rotary Leadership Institute (RLI) is a grassroots, multi-district leadership and Rotary development program using facilitation in small groups to engage Rotarians and strengthen clubs. About the RLI Program: Established in 1992, RLI has become a worldwide organization with divisions in every continent of the world. While it is an unofficial program of Rotary International, it has support from Rotary International. The basic RLI program consists of series of three one day Parts.
