Chair: George stepped up again today in the absence of Jamie, who had a work commitment.  He asked Pam to lead the singing of the national anthem.  Pam then offered a thoughtful and gracious prayer.  It was especially poignant since she’d found out that the shelves of the Sackville food bank were very low and hungry people were going home without enough to sustain them.  I can’t imagine the despair.  Pam then offered to take any contributions to the food bank after the meeting, and the club members who were present donated $250.00.
Please remember that there is no breakfast meeting next week; instead, a lobster dinner at the shore will be held at Sue P’s cottage on Sunday, August 26th.  RSVPs to Sandy, please.
Our guests for breakfast were visiting Rotarians Bill McLeish from Ottawa and Sharon Meldrum from South Lake, Florida.
Our other guests, although they didn’t stay for breakfast, were Matthew Blair and his dad, who attended on behalf of Sackville Minor Hockey to accept a cheque for $637.50, presented by George.
There were no birthdays this week but we were all happy to wish Wayne and Sandy a very Happy 50th Anniversary.  That’s some accomplishment!!
Pam had the lucky ticket today in the 50/50 draw.  The pot stands at $179.00, and is still growing as she drew the 5 of diamonds in pursuit of the elusive Queen of Spades.
Happy Toonies:
Wayne remembered fondly that his bachelor party was 50 years ago today…says Sandy deserves a medal, it’s been a great journey……Josh is eagerly looking forward to Monday, it’s his and Christine’s due date…..Bill M’s house on Quarry Lane is available to rent…..Pat’s brother is hosting a party for all the siblings, 1 brother and 5 sisters, must be a brave fellow!  Gayle’s looking forward to their company from Pennsylvania….    Pam very much enjoyed the movie “Christopher Robin” and encouraged everyone to see it….George was sad to have his sister’s visit end, but his spirits were lifted by having a great game of golf with Dale.  He reminded everyone of the sunset eulogy tomorrow in Rockport for Lorne Booth.  Edna is happy that her daughter and partner are visiting for 2 weeks and a trip to Cape Breton is planned.
