Rotary Club of Sackville Bulletin February 28, 2019

ChairDale gracefully led the meeting this morning, replacing Charlie who was in the shop for a tune-up and we all look forward to seeing him back at meetings in the coming weeks, fit as a fiddle again.
Guests: Today, Hannah Anderson joined us for our breakfast meeting as well as Kate Doyle.
Cheque Presentation: Goldmine winner Hannah Anderson happily accepted a cheque presented by Pat B for $2,660.00.

Spring Bash members met last night
No birthdays this week
Pinpal Stories: Diane spied a van from Camp Rotary in the Mount A parking lot across from her house
50/50 Draw:  The pot of $42 is holding on and growing for another week as Sandy drew the 8 of hearts in her quest for the Ace of Spades
Happy Toonies: Pat B is thrilled with the achievements of her family members this week:  she has a niece competing in Red Deer at the Canada Winter Games and Madigan, Miss Teen Atlantic is in Montreal at Miss Teen Canada…..Diane is off tomorrow for a sunny vacation in Punta Cana, DR…..Bill of course thrives on cold and snow and so needs no travel to sunnier climes.  He is excited, though, to be picking up his 20 month old granddaughter and her staff at the airport at noon for a long weekend visit…..Louise’s niece is going to Scotland for a term in January 2020 for a student exchange, a wonderful opportunity…..Gayle’s is more of an update; Charlie is going to hospital for examination and possibly a stent.
Committee Reports:
Spring Bash: Louise discussed the details of the April 27th Spring Bash at TRHS.  As Chair, Jamie has begun to enlist sponsors and vendors.  RE/Max will be the Gold sponsor; there are 5 Silver and 10 Bronze sponsorships available.
Club Admin: Diane outlined the March 24th sleigh ride.  It needs 20 people signed up in order to go ahead.  As of today, 12 people are @on board@.
Upcoming Meetings:
Club Administration – March 12th at Edna’s house.
Spring Bash:  March 27th at 5:15 at Mary’s house.
Rotary Training: Marita will be attending a training session in Dieppe.
Speaker: Bill introduced Kate Doyle, Community Developer with Horizon Health Network.  She spoke about the Community Health Needs Assessment, which she spearheads, and discussed the report of the Tantramar Health Advisory for Action Committee. Her proactive approach to community needs pointed to areas in which the club can contribute.    Kate’s email address is kate.doyle@horizonnb.ca for anyone who would like to pursue these opportunities, either personally or including the club.
Diane thanked Kate with a card and pen and the presentation of a book in Kate’s name to be donated to a local library.
The meeting concluded with recitation of the 4-way test.
