Rotary Club of Sackville Bulletin March 14, 2019
 
 
    ChairDarrell chaired this morning’s meeting and led off with the national anthem and a prayer.
Guests: Don Boudreau, Wendy Stimson, Nancy Rideout, Les Edgar and Marita’s daughter Kalika joined the club meeting today.
     Cheque Presentation: David presented our Goldmine Draw winner, Les Edgar with a cheque for $2,617.00.
On behalf of Open Sky, Nancy Rideout accepted a Goldmine cheque for $639.50.
Next Week’s Meeting:  No breakfast meeting next week; instead there is a celebratory wine and cheese get-together at the Cranewood.
Rotary Hours:  The Goldmine, Board of Directors, Youth Services and Club Administration all had meetings this week.

Pinpal Stories: Sue F has received two emails from the president of RI about “our” Rhodes Scholars.
50/50 Draw:  Our guest Kalika held the lucky ticket today, but drew the queen of diamonds in pursuit of the Ace of Spades and the pot of $58.  
Happy Toonies: Pat B was first up today looking forward to her granddaughter’s visit….Diane enjoyed the sun in Punta Cana last week, but as always, is very happy to be home and thanks all who filled in for her while she was soaking up the sun…..Marita is happy to have Kalika join her at the meeting this lovely morning…..Sue F is getting as much enjoyment out of the season as possible by going cross-country skiing this afternoon…..Louise is happy that March break is over and that there is more structure in Mariah’s day as it helps stabilize her diabetes.
Committee Reports:
Youth Services: Sue and the committee are working on the criteria for the bursary applications after approval of 2 bursaries this year, $2000 for a community college applicant and the same for a university-bound student.
Club Admin: Since only 14 people signed up for the sleigh ride on March 24th, the ride is cancelled and the tickets will be refunded.  There is a Food Handling course being offered by the Town on the 24th, should any club members wish to enrol.  Diane and the other committee members will meet next Thursday morning in preparation of the evening event at the Cranewood.
President’s Time:  Louise invited club members to attend the Sackville Hospital Foundation launch of their new campaign on March 21st at noon…..the club is looking for bulletin editors to share the work…..the Board is reaching out to members and the wider community by posting more content on social media.
Speaker:  Marita introduced Don Boudreau, from Able Sail in Shediac, the only sailing program in the Maritimes that can accommodate people with all levels of abilities.       Kalika is an enthusiastic participant and looking forward to another summer in the bay. Able Sail’s plans this summer are to buy another boat and develop a program to help PTSD sufferers.  Information can be found at www.ablesail.ca.
     Marita thanked Don with a card and pen and the presentation of a book in Don’s name to be donated to a local library.
The meeting concluded with recitation of the 4-way test.
