Fall Breakfast:         Thank you Trish for taking the lead on this. Trish reports that 339 tickets were sold, 314 of them at the door.  Including the cake draw, the net profit is expected to be $1,700 – congratulations Club Members on a job well done in support of our local breakfast programs!
Foundation:  Pam is leading the upcoming auction with drive and enthusiasm.  It will be held on Oct 11th; time and venue to be confirmed.  The generosity of the members has resulted in many beautiful items for Wynn to auction. This committee is also offering a screening of the movie “Breathe” On October 24th in celebration of World Polio Day.  Pam has invited Springhillers as well as the local Rotary clubs to join in this event and is very happy to report that District has donated $1,000 to the cause.
Volunteer:  Susan thanks Sharon, Josh, Trish, Dianne and Susan on behalf of the Rotaractors for making chili for their sale.  They sold out by 7:00 p.m. and made $428 to fund their dictionary program.
There is an Apple-Picking morning this weekend and all members are invited to join in the fun with the Rotaractors and help with transportation and camaraderie.
Upcoming Committee Meetings:
District:  Pam, Dianne and Erin are attending the upcoming District Conference.
Speakers:
Sandy introduced Courtney Cameron, Job Developer and Existing Technology Co-ordinator of the Neil Squire Society.  This organization, headquartered in Burnaby BC, has five offices in New Brunswick.  It was named after Neil Squire, who suffered a car accident and became brain stem paraplegic.  His uncle, Bill Squire, developed a sip and puff machine to allow Neil to communicate using Morse Code.  This soon grew into a group of volunteers who supported others with computer based assistive technologies.  The NB wing itself helps 1000 clients per year.
Courtney introduced her colleague Rebecca Kent, the Special Projects Co-ordinator.        Rebecca described the Makers Making Change project, which connects persons with disabilities with community members to build and make open source, customized and affordable solutions.  People with disabilities are often living at or below the poverty line so the Buildathons, Access Makerfaire and MeetUps are crucial avenues to enhancing mobility and quality of life.
Wynn presented the book to be donated to a local library in Courtney and Rebecca’s names and thanked them for their work and their presentation to the club.
The meeting concluded with the recitation of the 4-way test.
