Rotary Club of Sackville Bulletin - June 13, 2019

Marita was in the Chair today and opened the meeting at the usual 7:15 am.  Guests Pat Estabrooks, April Morgan and Shayne Mann led the way to the buffet.  There were no visiting Rotarians or Pin Pal stories this week and make ups were reported for only the Gold Mine crowd.
Cheque presentations were made to this week's Gold Mine winner and the Charity-of-the-Week.     Wynn is shown presenting a cheque for $2,498 to Lisa Goodwin, the big winner of the June 10th draw.  Also shown is a representative of Open Sky Cooperative receiving a cheque for $623 from our newest Rotarian, Chad Exley.
Wynn admitted to being a year older on the 19th and was desperately hoping his number would be drawn for the 50-50 draw.    Unfortunately for him his number wasn’t drawn, but John Murchie’s ticket was.  Looking for the 10 of  , John drew the 6 of   and lost out on $55.
In the Happy Dollars department, George was happy that he was going to Timmins ON to spend time with his sister………..Louise was happy that daughter Mariah raised $285 at a bake sale at the Farmers Market last week and that the JDRF has raised a total of $4,000 recently…………Wynn was happy to have made another birthday and admitted that today was the second time this week he had breakfast with Pat Estabrooks.  He was also glad that the captured girl from Amherst was rescued this week………. Dianne was happy that she was going to see Matt Anderson this week.
There is no duty roster for next week as it is the annual BBQ, which Dianne reminded everyone.  It is at 6pm on Thursday evening at Louise’s house.
The membership committee had the pleasure if inducting two new members this week – Chad Exley and Morgan Rosenberg.  Chad is from Vancouver BC and is an entrepreneur and Morgan is from Hamilton ON and is a crisis manager/public relations person.  Following Charlie’s stirring history of Rotary, President Louise pinned them and presented them with their new member kits.  The entire Club then welcomed Chad & Morgan.
Under President’s time, Louise reminded all members that the Rotary year is winding down, but participation on committees is important.  The new administration will be polling members for their choices.
Sandy introduced Pat Estabrooks and Earle Ali, representing the Sackville Memorial Hospital and the Sackville Memorial Hospital Foundation.     Pat, who is the head of fundraising for the Foundation detailed the services that the Hospital provides for the community each year – among them 900 surgeries, 36,000 outpatients, 500 admissions and 123 employees.  This years major purchase centered around a portable digital X-ray and table.  Cost - $260, 000.  To date, $251,000 has been raised.  Earle, a radiologist technician explained the workings and benefits of the unit.
Pat was thanked by fellow Foundation Board member Bill Evans.  The meeting concluded with the 4-way test.
